Our Story:

In April 2013, armed with a video camera, Nigel Collin set off on an odyssey, alone on his motorcycle, through remote Australia in search of ingenious ideas.

That first leg took him from Sydney through the Flinders Ranges and onto Darwin where he was the keynote speaker at a conference, and where he shared some stories of the ingenious Australians he met on his journey and how their stories could inspire others to think more creatively in all areas of work and life. He then moved on through Outback Queensland, where he undertook a dozen more interviews, became the basis for The Ingenious Oz Project, an online webcast and platform in which Nigel regularly shared stories and interviews with those he had met on his travels.

Such was its success that Nigel secured a publishing deal with Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd, for a book based on the take-homes from his interviews and additional interviews with successful Australian business owners and entrepreneurs. Nigel’s book, The Game of Inches, focused on the fact that business owners should shift their mindset from explosive, overnight success to consistent, step-by-step progress.

With 2018 marking the fifth anniversary of The Ingenious Oz Project, Nigel once more hit the road in search of ingenious ideas, this time with his friend, magazine editor, copywriter, scriptwriter, and publicity hound, Brad Foster, whose passion for storytelling – and ability to hold a camera so Nigel doesn’t have to do it – will help elevate this new series to even greater heights.

During the COVID Pandemic Ingenious Oz went virtual conducting interviews in a series title ‘The BIG Pivot’ to explore how clever and resourceful Australians could be through the crisis

As a regular conference speaker, Nigel has now shared his story and the story of the people he has interviewed with more than 100,000 conference attendees, both here and internationally.

The journey continues.
